Communities Empowered to End Sexual and Gender Based Violence

This project is aimed at advocating for promotion and respects of the rights of women and girls in Uganda through addressing barriers that promote gender inequality and bridge social exclusions through stigma and discrimination against young women and adolescent girls, hence depriving them of their potential to achieve their future aspirations and dreams.

The project seeks to empower local communities and place them at the center of strategies, efforts and interventions to end Sexual and gender based violence, and other harmful social cultural and religious practices that violate the rights and dignity of women and girls and subject them to social exclusion, stigma and discrimination, pain and suffering and missed future opportunities like teenage pregnancies, child marriages and female genital mutilation. The project also equips young women and girls with correct knowledge and information on these issues and creates for them platforms to speak against sexual and gender violence.
