SUMMARY:THE 2019 SHE DECIDES FESTIVAL!
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to yet again host the she decides international day in Uganda. Unlike last year\, this year’s day will be commemorated it with a rock-bursting festival\, which will feature various youth-led activities such as musical and dramatic performances\, fine art displays\, exhibition among others.  It will be organized under the theme; Stand up\, Speak out\, and Take action! \nA group of she decides friends and champion marching on the International day of girl child at Kiswa Health Center IV in Kampala.\nWe shall create a convergence point for She Decides friends and champions\, partners and well-wishers to engage and amplify the voices of young women and girls so that they can freely decide on issues that affect them. The event is slated for Saturday\, 2nd\, March 2019 at Kira road police playground\, under the hashtag #SheDecidesUg19. \nShe Decides is a Global Movement that foresees a world where every girl and woman can decide what to do with her body\, with her life and with her future. Without question! \nThe festival is unified in the conviction that it is a fundamental right of every girl and every woman to make the choices only she\, or they should make. Together with other partners\, we hope to remind and empower young stars about their rights and responsibilities. \nPart of the team behind the preparation and planning of the she decides festival 2019\nOn the day of the festival\, we shall enrich the confidence of Champions so that they don’t shy away from comprehensive sexuality education\, contraception for adolescents and young people\, body autonomy and body integrity or other issues that are often avoided or neglected. \nShe Decides movement was officially launched in June 2018 by Hon. Minister Jane Ruth Acheng the Minister for Health at the She Decides Uganda Open House\, who emphasized the need for partners to work together to deliver a supportive Uganda that is better\, stronger and safer for girls. \nGroup photo: The Hon. Minister of Health\, Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng with she decides champions on the launch of the campaign\, mid last year.\nWe have also put together a package of engaging and educative information sharing tool kits about sexual reproductive health rights\, adolescent health information desks and services which will be freely accessed. \nWe hope to attract over 3000 friends\, champions and she decides ambassadors.

SUMMARY:The 2019 UYAHF Retreat
DESCRIPTION:On 13th Jan 2019\, the Uganda Youth and Adolescent Forum (UYAHF) staff had a four-day retreat at Hibis hotel in Entebbe; a Kampala suburb. The retreat was a fun-filled event intended\, among other things; to enhance and build the team’s capacity\, welcoming of new staff and the entire Uganda Youth and Adolescent Forum (UYAHF) into the New Year\, We also reflected on our previous year’s performance\, and develop a work plan for the New Year. \nSeveral narratives including UYAHF’s historical journey\, and the million lives it has impacted\, locally and internationally in such a short time characterised the event. \n“Seeing vulnerable young girls who get pregnant before age\, and eventually dropout out of school\, as others struggle with menstrual challenges\, reproductive health concerns was pathetically challenging\, it is this gap that drives UYAHF’S commitment. For us\, it’s a brawl we are determined to win”. Patrick Mwesigye\, the founder and C.E.O shared with the staff before he proceeded to share the Vision\, Mission\, Values and goals of this vibrant organisation. \nMr. Patrick Mwesigye\, the team leader talking to the staff during the retreat.\nSeeing the progress of the SRH policy is one of his major recounts of 2018. \n“We managed to successfully push the Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy\, which is now pending presentation to Cabinet. All this is thanks to  the small but vibrant team we are!”  Patrick added. \nMr. Sam Ssenfuka taking lead in UYAHF’s work plan process at Hibis Hotel -Entebbe\nThroughout the Retreat\, the participants were engaged in pensive formulation of an annual work plan. This is an elaborate and systematic plan of actions\, we must collectively take to achieve our vision\, mission and mandate. \nSam Ssenfuka\, UYAHF’s project senior consultant effectively equipped the staff with a broader approach to achieving our goals. He also led the team in elaborate and systematic planning that must be followed in order for us to achieve our vision\, mission and mandate. This year\, we have four main program areas that we are mandated to manage.  Mr Ssenfuka urged every participant to gracefully follow this road map. \n“It is useless to develop a work plan\, and shelve it. The work plan acts like a guiding tool\, which helps implementers assess project progress against set targets” says Mr. Ssenfuka.
