Ministry of health has rejected as false the raging fears that Uganda could soon be running out of contraceptives drug stock out. This was said by Dr. Placid Mihayo, the ministry of health senior Gynecologist, while charing the Family Planning /Reproductive Health Commodity Security (FP/RHCS), technical working group meeting at fairway hotel in Kampala on 24th April 2018.

“There is a fear that Uganda is running out of implants by June this year but we have a new consignment, which is in the shipment process” he said.

Partner members in attendance included; all family planning implementing partners like Marie stopes, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Ministry of Health, DSW-A4HU, and National Population Council among others.

He also cautioned Family planning implementing partners against persuading the public into the consumption of Contraceptives.

“Use or consumption of family planning methods is entirely voluntary, after giving adequate information regarding the various methods available.

He said some actions of partners who persuade people to use family planning without giving the right information and allowing people to decide speaks negatively to the Ministry of Health and family planning implementing partners.

The meeting noted that Uganda is still waiting on the Global Financing Facility- GFF for the implants, which the process is yet to be completed.
