It was pomp and color at St Thomas vocational Secondary School in Rubirirzi district, as hundreds of girls mostly from rural western Ugandan schools gathered for the girl talk leadership camp.
The event that took place on May, 6th, and 12th, 2019 was organized by Action for Youth Development Uganda (ACOYDE) with the theme, “unleashing potentials of adolescent girls”. This occasion was unified under the “keep her in school initiative”.
The Girl’s Talk leadership club is an initiative intended to create change and develop the girl child in and out of school for socio-economic transformation.
The initiative targets girls between the ages of 10-16 years.
While opening the event, Mr. Thomas Nema, the Dean of studies at the school appreciated the initiative, which he is optimistic will change the lives of the rural girl child.
