Mbale district organized a meeting on 8th May 2020 at Children’s home in Namakwekwe primary school where street children are being quarantined during COVID Pandemic. The meeting was attended by the District Health Officer, Deputy Resident District Commissioner, District Probation Officer, the police PRO and 6 implementing partners such as link child foundation, Christine Relief Out reach , UYAHF among others.
In her remarks, Hon Wanyoto Lydia shared her excitement to be a part of the task force meetings focusing on street children and pointed out that as the Government, they are always glad to be involved in children and youth focused work. She further commended the team for their decision to have the street children quarantined in one school as a measure to curb down the times of COVID.
Hon Wonyoto Lydia joined the Mbale task force team in appreciating UYAHF an implementing partner in Mbale towards its response towards supporting the street children. We were commended for not only providing food donations but also going ahead to meaningfully engage these adolescents by building their capacities with SRHR information through the movie nights.
The participants were grateful for having an opportunity to interact with other members who are part of the district task force and other implementing partners and looked forward to further input into supporting the street children.
