Refugees face many challenges, among them include; Teenage pregnancies and child marriages.

Uganda has 1 in 4 girls aged 10-19 is pregnant or has already engaged in childbirth. But Kyegegwa district, a refugee host community alone has 1 in 2 girls. This difference is mainly influenced by a high number of teenage pregnancies in and around the refugee settlement Kyaka II, which is home to over 94.000 refugees (UNHCR2019 REPORT).

Many of these girls continue to face harmful social-cultural practices, which compromise their quality of life, health, dignity, and well-being.

The theme for World Refugee Day 2019 is #StepWithRefugees — Take A Step on World Refugee Day.
