This he referred to mainly, alcoholism and drug abuse. He said such behaviors lead to school dropouts, sexual and gender-based violence in homes, among others.

He was speaking to school-going and out of school young people from Busaana sub-county Kayunga district who had gathered for the Buganda Health day at St. Mark primary school in the same area. The Buganda Health day is a day that was set aside to offer health care services to the people of Buganda and Uganda at large, mainly the young people.

The Buganda Health day’s major areas of focus include but not limited to; sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV/Aids, Alcoholism, Drug abuse, and stigma.

This annual campaign, under which this event was organized seeks to create a generation of empowered young people in the above mentioned thematic areas.

“I congratulate young people especially boys and men who have decided to take on this initiative, usually, its boys who are perceived as favored over girls, this campaign presents young men as comrades in the struggle,” says Mr. Mayiga.
