Accelerate awareness of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) information and services Brief on Accelerate awareness of SGBV information and services The Accelerate awareness of SGBV information and services Project is implemented by the Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum (UYAHF) with funding from TIKO Uganda. The project aims to strengthen the prevention and response to SGBV, unwanted pregnancies, and HIV infections among adolescents and young people between the ages of 15 to 24 years through community awareness of its different forms, promotion of early identification, reporting, intervention, and strengthening referral pathways in Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga, Makindye, and Central divisions, and enhancing survivor safety mechanisms to ensure dignity and protection. These combined efforts will ensure that survivors will be able to access the services they deserve with greater timeliness and efficiency, thereby making the entire process more effective and impactful. This partnership will provide valuable insights into the needs of survivors and the systemic gaps that must be addressed. While Tiko leverages its digital platform to provide Adolescents and Young Peoples with information and referrals to SRH services, Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum (UYAHF) brings robust community networks, youth-led advocacy, and experience in SRHR and SGBV prevention and response. Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to combine digital innovation with community engagement to:
  • Raise awareness of SGBV prevention and response while integrating it with prevention of pregnancy and HIV infections.
  • Strengthen referral pathways and service linkages.
  • Amplify adolescent and youth voices in advocacy spaces and other platforms.
  • Create safer and more supportive environments for AYPs between the ages of 15 and 24 on matters SGBV, FP and HIV.
  Project Objectives
  • To strengthen the prevention and response to SGBV, unwanted pregnancies, and HIV infections among adolescents and young people through community awareness on its different forms, promotion of early identification, reporting, intervention, and strengthening referral pathways in Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga, Makindye, and Central divisions.
