From February 20th to 23rd, 2023, Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum (UYAHF) joined the other partners under the @GNB_Uganda network for a co-creation workshop at @ResortImperial to share and learn strategies to strengthen the impact of the financial investment through innovative strategy development and skills-building.
The four-day workshop was graced by the Girls Not Bribes Global Chief of Party, Dr. Faith Mwangi Powell, who emphasized the need to focus on the story of one girl in the community to bring about the change that we want to see.
It was attended by participants from different countries within the consortium who, among others, discussed the roles of individual member organizations in creating a united response. Additionally, the workshop provided room for collective thinking and the development of a strategic plan on how to end child marriage.
While sharing her feedback at the workshop’s conclusion, UYAHF deputy team leader Nakato Joyce stated that it provided her with an opportunity to learn more about individual organizational roles in the GNBU Movement and committed that UYAHF will continue to support the movement’s agenda and actively work towards it in grassroot communities to ensure child marriage becomes a thing of the past and girls live to their full potential.
“The main takeaway from this fruitful workshop is to focus on what network members can contribute to the movement rather than what they can take away from it,” Nakato added.
She concluded that, as partners, we are a powerful force capable of changing the narrative and combating the scourge of child marriage not only in Uganda but globally.
